Long run day:
Breakfast: Shredded wheat, Soya Milk. 1 Banana. Coffee
Set off reasonably early for a long run today. Decided to explore footpaths I’ve not trodden before, which inevitably means I end up getting lost! I tend to focus on a high point somewhere in the distance (in this case, it was Mayhill, in Gloucestershire, which in theory is only about 6/7 milles from home) and head in its general direction when doing this. Within 5 or 6 miles I had no idea where I was, so (in the words of a certain Mr Gump) I just kept running!
I took 2no Huel bars with me for sustenance, but really stupidly, left the zip undone on my running pack, and they must have fallen out somewhere on the trails, as when I came to eat one, they were gone…. Rookie error. I therefore ran out of steam far too early, so the last 3 or 4 miles were a bit more of a struggle than they should have been
My new (ish) Hoka’s feel really comfortable, and could become my favoured trail shoe I feel (having previously been in love with Salomon Speedcross’)
Managed 18 miles in total, with around 1300ft of ascent, which I appreciate is a drop in the ocean compared to the Two’r distance, but was good to get some time on my legs.
